If Yelp’s “A Carnival Wonderland” party was any indicator of what its community is like, I’ve been missing something big. With people adorned in wings, top hats, and all sorts of glitter, the Ayden Gallery was full of smiles, laughter, and lots of good times. Me – I was stationed at the photo booth. Here are a few of my favourites from the night.

Daft Punk made an appearance. Apparently in France, fans honour their heroes with clown shoes.

Food was another big part of the night. These people had their priorities straight.

It’s amazing how fast time flies. Growing up, Gerry (Scopez) and I always wanted to be famous for music. The difference between us? He stuck with it, and I got distracted by photography. Mixed blessing. Maybe time to reexamine my life. Anyways – on June 4th, we wandered Chinatown along with Tessa Tham to get some photographs for Scopez’ upcoming EPK. I can’t explain it, but throughout the day, Gerry gravitated towards dumpsters. Looking back on this shot, his gut couldn’t have been more right.

When talking creative, Gerry wanted high-contrast concepts. Instead of going the easy white-shirt-black-wall route, I opted to try something a little different: motion.

As one with many different voices, we made sure we caught Gerry’s more reserved and reflective side too.

Even after its 9th iteration, Launch Party Vancouver packed the walls of the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other business minds from Vancouver and beyond. All eyes were on a group of nine startups, two of which would walk away with awards at the end of the night.

Melissa Joaquin, Angela Baldonero, Tarlan Klo, Tina Hoang had their hands full at the door throughout the evening.

Danny Robinson and Maura Rogers sit down with Jordan Behand for the Launch Party Vancouver edition of CouchBeers.

Eric Buchegger listens intently to a product pitch.

Generous amounts of appetizers made their way around the room throughout the event.

As always, the sponsor wall and HootSuite owl were huge hits. Posing here with them is Sonia Ryan and John Chow.

A group of technology students from India made a special appearance at the event. (Speaking of special appearances, Michael Arrington of TechCrunch fame was supposed to have been there. Anyone see him?)

Martin Ertl from Contractually, winner of the “People’s Choice” award, glows proud over his accomplishment (as he should).

The gentlemen from Unbounce stand proud with their award for “Startup Most Likely to Succeed”.

Congratulations to all of the startups featured at Launch Party Vancouver 9 and kudos to the team from the Bootup Entrepreneurial Society for putting on a great show – nine times in a row.
