On December 1st, 2011, Langara College launched their art and design auction, Art-fully Yours, to great success, attracting hundreds of visitors and just as many art donations. With many rising artists calling Langara home, 50% of the proceeds were given to the donating artists and the remainder reinvested into Langara’s creative programs.

Art Department – a mixed photo, design, and print studio in Richmond – had its location preview today. Its biggest attraction: a 35 by 25 feet infinity cove reaching 33 feet tall.

The gigantic parabolic umbrella was just as impressive, worth nearly as much as a small car.

The print samples were gorgeous, but I may be biased.

Looking for some studio time? Art Department is booking sessions for $50 – but only until the end of July – so be sure to give them a shout soon and tell them I sent!

Last night, Vancouver Foodster celebrated its one-year anniversary by filling Canvas Lounge wall-to-wall with Vancouver’s foodies, socialites, and media. Lines like this were a common sight throughout the evening.

Every room was bustling. This one in particular, music provided by DJ Pat Lok.

I have no idea what the folks from Hapa Izakaya were making, but I really wish I got to try some.

Ross Hackworth from Nichol Vineyard manned the doors, keeping the room under a happy buzz.

Nimby Burgers was the only vendor I got to sample through the night. Thankfully, they were amazing.

Even though the desert room was tucked away, that didn’t stop people from snatching up every brownie in sight.
