As you folks may or may not know, I’m writing from California this Christmas holiday. Not much to report (besides a growing waistline), but I did find something I wanted to send back north: a picture of Macy’s electronics vending machine.
It’s nothing special when comparing it to other electronics-heavy markets, but still, it made my head tilt. Not a bad way for Macy’s to move high-demand items without having to make room for an entire department.
How about you folks? What’s the weirdest stuff you’ve seen in vending machines? Leave them in the comments!
P.S. It’s a bit late, but Merry Christmas, folks!
P.P.S. You ever walk into an Abercrombie and think it’s dark and loud enough to be a night club? Today, I did. Makes me wonder if anyone’s ever flash mobbed a dance party in an Abercrombie …

Seriously? A vending machine for electronics? At Macy’s? Weird.
I saw that all the time in Japan… but at Macy’s.. hmm.
That is seriously the coolest most awesomest vending machine EVER. And dude, Changi airport hasn’t changed since I was there 10 years ago. God I love Singapore! The people there are so damn nice!
I’m sooo glad we don’t have that in Vancouver or else I’d be spending all my money on this machine. Phew!
@VancityAllie I think it makes sense for Macy’s, but it’s still a bit funny seeing premium products in a vending machine.
@Victoria: Really? I’ve met nice Singaporeans, but not all of them are nice. Maybe they’re in love with Miss Victoria Grace – or her Canadian accent. Still, will always be my second home.
@Tawcan: I’m not sure if I’d do the same. When I buy, it’s been off of Craigslist, eBay, or online retails as of late. Got to save the dollars for buying MP3s!
@all: Happy new years, folks.
Love the vending machine! And yes I agree with you about Abercrombie. Same with Hollister (same company), which you can smell from a mile away.
@Ali: And to think, at one point I actually wanted their cologne. (shudders) By the way, ChickAdvisor looks great. Can’t say I subscribe to it, but I know plenty of people who’d love it.
The weirdest thing I saw was an umbrella vending machine at YVR… which makes sense since this is Vancouver
Dude, the better question is: What haven’t I seen in a vending machines? Stupid Tokyo and their affinity to stick everything into boxes. I swear one day you’ll be able to adopt a child in a vending machine.
@JeremyKim: Smart business move and a very good indicator for first-time visitors on what’s just outside those doors, haha.
@Kenta: I thought that was already there, or was that “Venda-SoulMate?”
